Christalis Superhero 5K Run/Walk - September 27, 2026
The Christalis Superhero 5K is a themed 5-kilometer run/walk held at Washington Adventist University Commons in Takoma Park, Maryland. Proceeds from the event support children in Christalis programs.
The 5k route follows Sligo Creek Parkway and Sligo Creek Trail. The course is stroller-friendly and walkers may participate. There will be two water stations along the route. Race timing is chip-based and managed by Bishop's Events, with live results posted on Athlinks and a race-day QR code for immediate access. Participants who arrive more than five to ten minutes after the race start may take part but will not be officially timed.
Participant items and amenities include a race T-shirt, finisher medal, hot drinks, and pre- and post-race snacks; these items are guaranteed only for registrants by September 14 and T-shirts are provided only to registrants who start the race. Registration fees are listed as $35 for preregistration, $40 on race day, and $7 for the Little Hero Dash. Undergraduates receive a $10 discount with valid student ID.
A free pop-up market of local vendors and food trucks operates during and after the race with no registration required. Awards are given to top overall finishers and to age-group placings, and there is a best superhero costume contest and Little Hero Dash age divisions. Only service dogs are allowed and children under age 11 are requested to stay with a parent or guardian. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
