Chilly Cheeks Duathlon
The Chilly Cheeks Duathlon is held in late February at Cherry Creek State Park in Denver. The 63rd edition follows a Run, bike, run format with marked and marshaled courses, chip timing, and light refreshments.
Distances
- 2.5 miles run, first leg
- 11 miles bike, paved road route
- 2.5 miles run, second leg
The run course is an out and back route on a mix of road, paved bike path, and dirt path. An aid station is passed twice, once just before mile 1 and again just after mile 1.5. The bike course is entirely paved but may have snow, sand, or ice depending on recent weather. Course conditions are updated the evening before the event. Organizers may change distances, course, or format if weather warrants; the race is contested regardless of conditions.
Entries made before February 1 include a pair of Chilly Cheeks sweatpants. Athletes who enter on or after February 1 may purchase pants while supplies last, and entrants may opt out of the pants to save $10.
Vehicle access requires an annual State Parks pass or an $11 one day pass. Awards are given in multiple categories including overall top three male and female, age divisions, a fat tire division with specific bike requirements, and first place relay teams in male, female, and coed categories.
