Children in Conflict 5K Walk/Run
The Children in Conflict 5K Walk/Run is a community event held in Central Park, Manhattan. The race takes place at the Butterfly Garden near East 102nd Street and 5th Avenue. The event serves to bring awareness and raise funds for children living in areas of conflict and war, with proceeds benefiting the Children in Conflict organization.
Participants have several ways to take part in the event:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed 5K course on the pavement of Central Park.
- Kids Fun Run: An untimed event for children aged 10 and under.
- Virtual 5K: A remote option allowing participants to complete the distance between June 13 and June 21 and upload their results online.
- Virtual Kids Fun Run: A remote option for children held during the same timeframe.
The event is held rain or shine. In-person participants who register at least three weeks in advance receive a personalized bib. Amenities include live results sent via text or email, and free finish line photos. Awards are provided for the top male and female overall finishers, as well as the top finishers in age groups ranging from under 19 to 60 and over.
Registrants also have the option to purchase event t-shirts or set up a personalized fundraising page, though fundraising is not a requirement for participation. Teams can be formed for those wishing to participate with friends or colleagues. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
