About the race
Childish Nonsense is a trail ultrarunning event on April 24, 2027, held at Deer Grove Forest Preserve west in Palatine, IL. The course is mostly a wide path with little technical terrain, organized as repeated laps.

- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 25K
- 5.5 Miler
Lap structure is defined by distance: the 5.5 Miler completes one lap, 25K is three laps, 50K is six laps, and 50 Miler is nine laps. Runners will pass the single aid station at the start and finish area approximately every 5.5 miles. Crew support on the course is not permitted except at the start/finish area. 50 Miler entrants may use a pacer after four loops. A cutoff time of 7pm applies to all distances.
The event is organized by CUSS Running (Cussing Runner). The organizers state they provide a number of free entries for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ athletes as an affirmation of belonging rather than as need based scholarships; codes are distributed while funding allows. Entrants’ declared gender is accepted at face value for entry. Organizers indicate they will amend non binary records after registration where needed.
