Childish Nonsense
Childish Nonsense is a looped trail event on April 24, 2027 at Deer Grove Forest Preserve west in Palatine, IL. The course is mostly a wide path with little technical terrain. The organizer is CUSS Running.
Distances offered include:
- 50 Miler nine laps of the 5.5 mile loop
- 50K six laps of the 5.5 mile loop
- 25K three laps of the 5.5 mile loop
- 5.5 Miler one lap
There is a single aid station at the start/finish, which participants encounter every 5.5 miles. Crew access is limited to the start/finish area. For the 50 mile distance a pacer is permitted after four loops. The event uses a cutoff time of 7pm for all distances.
The event description notes playful activities throughout the day intended to "awaken our inner child." The organizer states a commitment to inclusion and offers a limited number of free entries for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ athletes; these are not need based and are distributed while funding lasts. The event accepts entrants at their declared gender and provides options for non binary participants to have pronoun records amended after registration.
