Childish Nonsense - Palatine, IL
Childish Nonsense is a multi-distance trail event held at Deer Grove Forest Preserve west in Palatine, IL. The event offers several fixed distances and uses a looped course that runners repeat to complete their chosen distance.

- 10K
Most of the trail is a wide path with little technical terrain. Runners complete multiple laps on the same loop: 10K participants run one lap plus an extra section, 25K participants run three laps, 50K participants run six laps, and 50 milers run nine laps. There is a single aid station at the start and finish area; this station will be visible roughly every 5.5 miles. There are no other official crew access points on the course, though crews may set up at the start and finish area.
For the 50 miler distance, pacers are permitted after four loops. Organizers describe the event as intended to add whimsy to ultrarunning and state a mission to help others fall in love with the sport. The event includes intentional entry options to increase inclusion for BIPOC and LGBTQ athletes and accepts each entrant's declared gender at face value while offering support for non-binary registration records.
