Childish Nonsense
Childish Nonsense is a trail race presented by CUSS Running at Deer Grove Forest Preserve west near Palatine, IL. The event uses a looped course on mostly wide, soft crushed gravel paths with little technical terrain. The course layout requires multiple laps depending on the chosen distance.

- 25K
- 50K
- 50 Mile
Lap structure and logistics are specified by distance: 10K participants run a single lap plus extra, 25K runners complete three laps, 50K runners complete six laps, and 50 mile entrants complete nine laps. There is one aid station at the start/finish area; it is encountered approximately every 5.5 miles. Crews may set up only at the start/finish area. For the 50 mile distance, pacers are permitted after four laps. A common day-end cutoff applies to all distances.
The organizer describes a community-oriented atmosphere intended to inject whimsy and play into ultrarunning events. The race includes elements described as playful activities occurring throughout the day. The event materials note inclusive entry policies for transgender and non-binary athletes and a process to provide complimentary entries intended for BIPOC and LGBTQ athletes as part of inclusion efforts.
