2026 Chicken Run

The Chicken Run is organized at Our Lady of Lourdes in Washington, MO, with the course beginning and ending at the parish location on 1014 Madison Ave. The event offers a timed 5K and a separate one mile Fun Run/Walk that is not timed and does not use race bibs.

The race includes participant medals and prizes for top age group finishers. Every participant receives a t-shirt, and event features include attendance prizes, swag bags, mile markers, and refreshments during and after the event. After the races, participants can sample chicken as a preview of the parish chicken dinner. A parish festival takes place following the race and the parish chicken dinner occurs the following day.

The event also highlights a local tradition: in earlier years parish volunteers who prepared fried chicken for the festival were called "Chicken Runners." The current event commemorates those volunteers while combining a community run with festival activities.

Registration categories and fees listed by the organizer are:

  • 5K timed participant, $20
  • 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk untimed, $15
  • Student 5K or Student 1 Mile, $10 each
