Chicago Lakefront Ultras
The Chicago Lakefront Ultras is a long-standing ultramarathon series with a history spanning several decades. The event takes place twice a year, with editions held in the spring and the fall. The races are held along the scenic lakefront of Chicago, utilizing two distinct locations to provide variety for participants.
The Northside events are centered at Foster Avenue Beach, with the start and finish area located near the Foster Avenue Beach House on the east side of Lake Shore Drive. The Southside events take place at Jackson Park, starting and finishing at the southeast corner of the 63rd Street Beachhouse.
Participants can choose from various distances depending on the season:
- 50 Mile (offered in the fall)
- 50 Kilometer (offered in both spring and fall)
- 20.7-Mile Buildup Run (offered in the spring)
- Half Marathon (offered in the spring)
The course features aid stations stocked with water, energy drinks, soda, and assorted food items. Runners may also utilize a drop bag area at the start and finish location to access personal nutrition and gear. Finishers of the 50-mile race receive buckles, while finishers of the 50-kilometer and half marathon distances receive medals. Awards are also provided for overall winners and top finishers in 10-year age group divisions.
Packet pickup and runner check-in are conducted on-site at the start and finish area on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
