About the race
The Life Time Chicago Half Marathon is a 13.1 mile road race that takes place on a flat, traffic restricted course in Chicago. The race is open to participants aged 14 and over on race day.
The course starts in Historic Jackson Park, site of the 1893 World Columbian Exposition. Runners then head north with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. After a turnaround, the route follows Chicago’s south Lake Shore Drive, passing historic Southside neighborhoods such as Kenwood and Hyde Park. Near the finish, participants pass the Museum of Science and Industry campus and complete the race at the golden Statue of the Republic.
A 16 minute per mile pace requirement is in place from the time the last participant crosses the start line, to allow for course reopening and reduced community impact.
Awards are given to the top three overall male, female and non-binary finishers, plus the top three men and women in age groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90+.
Participants receive a custom designed large finisher medal, a long sleeve tech shirt, post race food and refreshments, access to a finish festival with live music and partner activations, and a runner goody bag.
The event offers a guide pairing service for para athletes through a partnership with Dare2tri. All event details, including course and times, are subject to change. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
