EmpowerHer Fun-5K
The EmpowerHer Fun-5K is an annual, community oriented event presented by Chica Project at Franklin Park Playstead in Boston. The event is framed as a celebration of Women of Color, community, wellness, and collective support for young women and girls. Programming on site includes live music, giveaways, a raffle, and opportunities for social connection on a grassy gathering area.
The outdoor course is paved and consists of three loops around the Franklin Park Playstead and White Stadium area, totaling approximately 3.1 miles for a traditional 5K. The event is non competitive and untimed; participants may track their own time if they wish and may complete any number of loops. The event welcomes families and leashed dogs. Children ages five and under participate for free and do not require registration. A virtual participation option is available. Complimentary water and light snacks are offered while supplies last. The event is planned as rain or shine; if severe weather requires cancellation the program will transition to a virtual experience and t shirt distribution will be coordinated.
