Chestnut Chase - November 8, 2026
Chestnut Chase is a trail 10K held at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park in Canton, NC. The course starts with a rough 600-foot gain in the first two miles up Papertown Express, continues over rolling hills on the Old Timer trail, and finishes with a downhill return to the finish area. The event highlights fall views along the route.
The event is a fundraising race; all proceeds support NCMTR and the Chestnut Mountain Foundation. Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy owns the Chestnut Mountain property, and the park comprises roughly 450 acres preserved for habitat, water resources, and outdoor recreation.
Event logistics include on-site parking supported by the Town of Canton. Timing is manual; bibs are not chipped and must be worn visibly for visual finish confirmation. There will be one aid station at the lollipop intersection, passed near mile 1.5 and again near mile 4.6, offering water, light snacks, and medical support. A local vendor will provide donuts and drinks at the event.
