Essar Chester Half Marathon - 16 May 2027
The Essar Chester Half Marathon takes place on 16 May 2027 and marks the 45th edition of the race. The city centre start and finish use Chester Racecourse, Watergate Street CH1 2LY, and the route passes city sights and surrounding countryside. The event is a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Championships.
The organiser is Active Leisure Events Ltd. The race is run under UK Athletics rules and is measured by the AUKCM. The minimum age on race day is 17.
Entry options and prices include a special entry price of £41.60 until 23:59 on 28 June 2026, a standard price of £52.00 until 25 April 2027, and a late entry price of £55.00 from 16 April 2027. UKA affiliated runners receive a £2 discount. Triple series entry packages are available combining the MBNA Chester 10K and an autumn marathon event.
Before race day registered runners receive access to training plans, free training runs, support resources, and a personalised race pack posted to them or available from the Help Desk for overseas runners. On race day finishers receive a technical T shirt, a bespoke medal and a goody bag or may choose a Green Runner option that donates the cost of those items to the official race charity. The event provides on course hydration and nutrition, medical support, free official photos, prize awards for top finishers and age groups, and live tracking. Transfers to another runner are permitted up to the Wednesday before the event subject to a £10 administration fee; places are non refundable and cannot be deferred.
