2027 Essar Chester Half Marathon
The 2027 Essar Chester Half Marathon takes place on 16 May 2027 and is the 45th edition of this event. The race starts and finishes in the city centre at Chester Racecourse and follows a route that passes city centre sights and surrounding countryside. It also serves as a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Championships.
Before race day participants receive access to training plans, free training runs, and a personalised race pack that includes a race number and timing chip. Race packs are posted to entrants; runners from outside the UK must collect their race numbers from the Help Desk on race weekend. The organiser offers competitions and sponsor offers, a social community for runners, and free runner to runner transfers.
On race day entrants receive a complimentary technical T shirt, a bespoke medal and a goody bag, or the option to enter as a Green Runner in which case the cost of those items is donated to the event charity and those items are not provided. The event provides prizes for the top three men and women and for age group winners, free official race photos, on course hydration and nutrition, medical support, access to a runners Help Desk, and live tracking for supporters.
Entry fees are tiered: special entry £41.60, standard £52.00 and late entry £55.00. UK Athletics affiliated runners receive a £2 discount. The minimum age is 17. The race is organised by Active Leisure Events Ltd, runs under UK Athletics rules and is measured by the AUKCM.
