Essar Chester Half Marathon (17 May 2026)
The Essar Chester Half Marathon on 17 May 2026 marks the 44th edition of the race and is a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Championships. The event is based at The Racecourse, New Crane St, Chester, with a lively city centre start and finish.
The course passes city centre sights and surrounding countryside, with Cestrian supporters lining the route. Before race day entrants receive access to training plans, support and advice including free training runs, and a personalised race pack with race number and timing chip sent by post. Runners from outside the UK are asked to collect their race numbers from the race Help Desk on race weekend. There are also exclusive offers and competitions from sponsors and access to a social community on social media.
On race day runners receive a technical T-shirt, a bespoke medal and a goody bag with post race nutrition, or the option to choose a Green Runner donation instead of the kit. Prizes are awarded to the top three men and women and to winners in each age group. The event provides free official race photos, a runners Help Desk, on-course hydration and nutrition, medical support along the route, a safe running environment and access to a tracking website for live progress.
