2027 Essar Chester Half Marathon
The 2027 Essar Chester Half Marathon takes place on 16 May 2027 and marks the 45th edition of this historic, award-winning event. The race is organised by Active Leisure Events Ltd and is staged at Chester Racecourse, Watergate Street, CH1 2LY, UK. It includes a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Championships and is measured by the AUKCM under UK Athletics rules.
The course features a city centre start and finish and passes city centre sights and surrounding countryside, with local supporters lining parts of the route. The race distance is a Half Marathon and the minimum age on race day is 17.
Pre-race services include access to training plans, support and advice with free training runs, a personalised race pack with race number and timing chip sent by post (non‑UK entrants collect numbers from the Help Desk), and access to social channels for participant support. Entry options include a Green Runner choice where the cost of the medal, T-shirt and goody bag is donated to the event charity in place of receiving them.
On race day the event provides a technical T-shirt, a bespoke medal and a goody bag for finishers unless entered as a Green Runner, official race photos, on-course hydration and nutrition, medical support, a runners Help Desk, prizes for top finishers and age group winners, and live tracking for supporters.
