Event Overview

The Chesapeake Shamrock 5K Run and 1K Walk is a community event at Gunpowder Falls State Park's Hammerman Area, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Participants can choose from two events: a 5K run or a 1K walk. The event takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Course and Logistics

The course is described as paved and mostly flat, with a small downgrade at the start and a small upgrade near the end. The event is scheduled to occur rain or shine. The start and finish area is located at 7200 Graces Quarters Road in Middle River, Maryland.

Participants receive race timing via professional RFID technology, with results available on-site and online, along with a printable certificate and finish line video link. A commemorative shirt is provided for each runner and walker, guaranteed for the first 300 participants. Awards are given to winning runners (including by age group) and winning walkers.

Beneficiary and Theme

Proceeds from the event benefit the Chesapeake Bay Association, Inc., supporting environmental programs and scholarships for high school graduates. The event has a St. Patrick's Day theme, and participants are encouraged to wear green. A leprechaun character will be present for photos.
