Event Overview
The Cherry Pickin’ 5K Wave Race is held at Leona Valley Elementary School. The main event is a 5K race using a handicapped start system based on age-graded tables, meaning start times are determined by a runner's age and gender. This structure means there are no traditional age group divisions. Medals are awarded to the top 150 overall finishers.
Course & Events
The 5K course is described as uphill for the first half and downhill for the return. In addition to the timed race wave, there is a separate, untimed Family Fun Run Wave for participants who prefer to run, jog, or walk without being timed or competing for a place.
Registration & Perks
Registration is offered in several categories, including adult, youth, and a category for HDR members. Entry includes a t-shirt, available while supplies last.
Purpose
The event is a fundraiser for the West Antelope Valley Education Foundation (WAVE), which supports extracurricular activities for students in the Westside Union School District. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
