Event Overview
The Stars, Stripes & Sneakers event is a community running celebration hosted by the City of Palmdale and the High Desert Runners at Sam Yellen Park. Held on July 4, 2026, the occasion marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The gathering includes a 5k walk/run and specific kids fun runs.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from the following course distances:
- 5 km Stars, Stripes & Sneakers Walk/Run
- 1 km Kids Red, White & Zoom Fun Run (ages 9-12)
- 500 m Kids Red, White & Zoom Fun Run (ages 8 and under)
Race Mechanics and Recognition
The 5 km race features professional chip timing. All participants receive a t-shirt and a medal, subject to availability. Age group awards for the 5 km distance are provided for several categories, including 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available on July 3rd at Legacy Commons for Active Seniors between 5 pm and 8 pm. Those who collect their packets on this date are entered into a raffle prize drawing. Alternatively, packet pickup is available at Sam Yellen Park on the morning of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
