Cherokee Choices Mother's Day 5K - Bryson City
The Cherokee Choices Mother's Day 5K takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Kituwah Mound, 3831 Ela Rd, Bryson City, NC 28713. The event is presented as a 5K Run/Walk hosted by Cherokee Choices and follows a course that combines road, farm road, and trail sections across the historic site.
Registration opens January 28, 2026. Packet pick up and onsite registration are available. Entry fees are listed as Adults $15 until May 1, then $20 from May 1 until race day. Youth (ages 1-12) and Elders (ages 59-99+) are listed at $10 until race day. Donations of $50 or more waive the entry fee.
Awards for the 5K include the top three overall male and female finishers, and the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 8 & Under, 9-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-50, 51-60, and 61+. Everyone who registers receives a Mother's Day 5K shirt. An awards presentation is scheduled after the event.
All net proceeds benefit EBCI Senior Citizens. Kituwah Mound is described as the Mother Town of the Cherokee People; historically it held the Council House and the first fire, the surrounding village area was taken during the 1830s Removal, and the land was returned to the People within the last 25 years.
