Chernisky Classic - July 11, 2026
The Chernisky Classic is a community running event in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, featuring out-and-back races on the Ghost Town Trail. The event includes a free Firecracker Race for children 8 and under and family-oriented activities with firetrucks and firefighters on site.
The event offers the following distances:
- 10K
- 5K
Both courses run on the nationally recognized Ghost Town Trail, named the 2020 Trail of the Year. Cold water is available at the start/finish area and along the trail. The 5K course passes a water station at the turnaround; the 10K passes a water station twice. Restrooms are located at the start/finish at the Young People’s Community Center, 300 Prave Street, Ebensburg.
Same-day packet pick-up and race day registration are available. Early non-timed starts are permitted for participants who prefer not to be officially timed or eligible for prizes. Official timing is provided for the designated competitive start group. Prizes are awarded to the top five male and top five female finishers in both the 5K and 10K running events. The first 400 finishers receive a voucher to a Johnstown Tomahawks game for the 2026-2027 season.
All net proceeds benefit the Training Facility of the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association. Registration closes July 10 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
