Chernisky Classic : Ebensburg, PA
The Chernisky Classic is an annual community running event held on the Ghost Town Trail with out-and-back courses for a 5K and a 10K. The event includes a free Firecracker Race for children age eight and under. Firetrucks and firefighters are present to greet and interact with children. The event is described as family-friendly and traditionally takes place the Saturday after the Fourth of July.
The course is on the nationally recognized Ghost Town Trail, named 2020 Trail of the Year. Cold water is available at the start and finish area and on the trail. The 5K turnaround passes a water station once; the 10K passes the same station twice. Restrooms are located at the Start/Finish at the Young People’s Community Center, 300 Prave Street, Ebensburg, PA.

Registration includes a commemorative race t-shirt or tank top for registrants, and the first 400 finishers receive a voucher to a Johnstown Tomahawks game for the 2026-2027 season. Prizes are awarded to the top five male and top five female finishers in both the 5K and 10K running events. Official timing is provided for participants who start with the competitive group; participants who start early will not be officially timed or eligible for prizes.
