Event Overview
The Festivus For The Rest Of Us 5k returns for its sixth annual edition in New Florence. This community event supports the New Florence Volunteer Fire Company, with all proceeds donated directly to the organization. The race takes place on a course measured at exactly 3.10 miles, starting and finishing near the local fire hall.
Distances and Course
The event offers two primary categories:
- 5k run
- 5k walk (participants must walk at all times)
The course begins at 177 13th St. and traverses local roads, including a brief section on Route 711 and Boswell Road. Participants pass the Laurel Hill Iron Furnace before reaching the turnaround point at the 1.45-mile mark. The route features a net elevation gain during the first half and a net decline during the second half. A single water station is located near the turnaround point, which participants pass twice.
Participation Details
The event is chip-timed, and participants must cross the finish mats within 1 hour and 5 minutes to be included in the official results. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70+.
Pets are permitted on the course but must remain on a leash and under control at all times. Strollers are also allowed, though children pushed in strollers are not eligible for age-group awards.
