Cheltenham Running Festival
The Cheltenham Running Festival takes place on 14 June 2026 at Cheltenham Racecourse and includes a chip timed Half Marathon, 10K and 5K plus a kids race. The event is organised by RunThrough and is held within the grounds of the racecourse, which includes The Centaur and open acreage near the Cotswold hills.
Race packs include a timing chip that slots into the shoelaces and records start and finish times for an accurate chip timed result. Race numbers and chips are issued from registration tents in the event village on the day. Race information is emailed in the two Fridays prior to the event and is also published on the event website.
Distances
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
The course is a flat 5K loop within the racecourse, mostly tarmac with some gravel and soft surface. The format is one lap for 5K, two laps for 10K and four laps for the Half Marathon. The course is not suitable for wheelchair or buggy running. Bottled water is provided at the 5K mark and a bottle of water is available at the finish line. An informal baggage system operates from a building in the event village using a baggage tag attached to the race number.
Entries close 48 hours before the event or earlier if capacity is reached; on the day entries may be available if the race has not sold out. Results appear on the RunThrough results page immediately and most times are also shown on RunBritain and Power of 10. Refunds are not offered; entries can be transferred or swapped under the event transfer rules, with an administration fee applying in some cases. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
