Chelsea Chase 5K: Chelsea, Massachusetts
The Chelsea Chase is a community 5K with start and finish at El Potro Mexican Bar & Grill in the Market Basket Plaza, 170 Everett Avenue, Chelsea. A post event celebration sponsored by El Potro includes a light buffet and two drink tickets for registered runners.
Parking is permitted across from the El Potro entry only within the Market Basket Plaza; other spots in the plaza may be towed. Walkers are welcome. Race roads will not be closed, and volunteers will be on course to direct participants at busy intersections and turns. Participants are advised to stay on or near the sidewalk and remain aware of traffic.
The event supports programs of the Jordan Boys & Girls Club, which serves about 250 daily Club members ages 6 to 18, and it also raises funds for the Chelsea Police Relief Association, which provides death benefits to families of officers. The event serves as a community support activity in place of previous phone call efforts.
Number pick up is available the day before the race, Friday May 15, at the Jordan Boys & Girls Club, 30 Willow Street, from 9am to 8pm. Morning pick up will be available at the registration table near the starting area at El Potro at 9am. T shirts are provided to runners who register in advance through May 14; remaining shirts may be available on race day. Awards include certificates and small gifts for top finishers in standard age categories and a special award for the first Chelsea resident to finish.
