Chelmsford Race Weekend
The Chelmsford Half Marathon is a major road running event in Essex, featuring a course entirely closed to vehicular traffic. The race route passes through key areas of the city, including Parkway, Essex Yeomanry Way, and Chelmer Village Way. The course is officially measured by the Association of UK Course Measurers and is a UKA registered race managed by a professional traffic management team.
The event offers two primary distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10k
The start and finish lines are located at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), specifically near the Student Union Building. The finish area features a purple carpet and a festival village with a music stage and entertainment. Participants receive chip timing for accurate results and a genuine metal medal upon completion. Water stations are positioned along the route, and snacks are provided at the finish line.
The event infrastructure includes over 300 signs for navigation, professional photography services provided on a complementary basis, and a full medical and security team. Entry is open to participants aged 15 and over for the 10k and 17 and over for the Half Marathon. Registration follows a tiered pricing structure based on early booking and capacity.
