Chasing The Legend

Chasing The Legend is a running event at Double Bluff Recreation Area in Jonesville, North Carolina (2323 NC Hwy 67, 28642). The event offers two distances:

• 5K
• one mile fun run

The 5K course follows a multi-surface trail that mixes gravel, hard-packed dirt, and seasonal grass and passes through forested sections. The event description mentions forest scenery and a playful reference to Bigfoot along the route. All 5K finishers receive a finishers medal.

Entry fees and registration windows are listed per event. The 5K lists a registration fee of $30.00 with registration opening on 09/13/2026 and closing on 12/31/2026. The one mile fun run lists a registration fee of $20.00 with registration opening on 09/25/2026 and closing on 03/17/2027. Registrations completed by February 19, 2027 will receive a Chasing the Legend 5K t-shirt; registrations after that date will have t-shirts available on the day of the race on a first come, first serve basis.

Awards are planned for top finishers by gender and age categories, including Top 3 overall male and female, Top 3 master male and female, and Top 3 in each age group. Net proceeds beyond operational costs and all donations will go to a community playground for elementary school children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
