Chasing the Dream 5K MLK Day Celebration
Chasing the Dream 5K takes place on 01/18/2027 in Orlando, Florida, at 2501 General Rees Ave. The event offers an in-person 3.1 mile run with separate adult and child registration and a virtual 3.1 mile option.
Registration categories and fees are:
- Adult registration: $30, registration open 01/14/2026 to 08/18/2026
- Child registration: $20, registration open 01/14/2026 to 12/09/2026
- Virtual registration: $40, registration open 01/14/2026 to 12/31/2026
Proceeds from the event benefit the New Image Youth Center, an after-school and summer program serving students in a high-needs neighborhood. The organizer will also accept food donations for the center; suggested items include individually wrapped snacks, fruit, and microwavable meals such as chips, crackers, fruit cups, mac and cheese cups, and ramen noodles.
Participants receive a custom-designed medal and a tech shirt. The in-person event uses chip timing and includes awards by age group and overall awards for the top three men and women. Age group categories include 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; and 75-79.
