Event Overview
The Chase the Butterfly Family 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run is a community event organized by the Ipswich Family YMCA. The event includes a 5K road race and a separate Kids Fun Run. Registration fees apply, with different rates for adults and participants aged 13 and under.
Event Purpose
The event supports two causes. Funds raised help the YMCA provide financial assistance for its community programs, such as swim safety and childcare. The event also collaborates with the CureCMT4J Foundation, an Ipswich-based nonprofit focused on finding a cure for a rare neurological disease.
Race Day Information
The event takes place at New England Biolabs, located at 240 County Road in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The 5K course is described as stroller and dog friendly. Free on-site parking is available in a garage and surface lots. Timing for the event is provided by Bay State Race Services.
Participants can pick up their bib and a complimentary event T-shirt (available first-come, first-served) on the Friday before the race at the Ipswich Family YMCA or on race day at the start location. There is a no-refund policy for registrations.
Awards & Post-Race
Awards will be given in several categories. Medals are awarded to the overall 1st place male and female finishers, the top three finishers in standard age groups, and the top three in non-binary and wheelchair categories. Special prizes are also given to the first-place male and female local residents.
After the race, there is a post-race party where participants aged 21 and over (with ID) can enjoy one complimentary beer or non-alcoholic beverage from True North Ale Company. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
