2026 Chase the Butterfly Family 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run
The Chase the Butterfly Family 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run takes place in Ipswich, Massachusetts. This community event is hosted at the New England Biolabs campus and serves as a fundraiser for the Ipswich Family YMCA and the CureCMT4J Foundation. The proceeds support local youth development, childcare, and research into neurological diseases.
The event features two main distances:

The 5K course is paved and accommodates both strollers and well-behaved dogs on leashes. Professional timing services are provided for the road race, with results posted at the finish line and sent via email. Participants can pick up their bibs and shirts on the Friday before the race at the Ipswich Family YMCA or on race day at the event location. T-shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The event includes a pre- and post-race celebration with live music, food trucks, and complimentary beverages for participants of legal age. Medals are awarded to the top male and female overall winners, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. There are also specific awards for non-binary participants, wheelchair finishers, and the fastest local residents from Ipswich.
