Charlottesville Turkey Trot 5k
The Charlottesville Turkey Trot 5k takes place on Thanksgiving morning with start and finish next to Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, VA. The event offers two participation options:
- 5k (Live)
- 5k (Virtual)
The course runs through a neighborhood and features flat stretches and gentle rolling hills, with a total elevation gain of 133 feet. Ample parking is available at Albemarle High School, Journey Middle School, and Greer Elementary.
The event supports two local food relief organizations: the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, which serves Central Virginia and is an affiliate of Feeding America, and Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. Loaves & Fishes is located on the race route and is described as the largest distributor of food from the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in the Charlottesville area; it provides free groceries to families and individuals up to two times per month, with nearly one third of households visiting twice monthly.
Race registration opens September 1 with an entry fee of $35; registrants who complete registration by October 26 are guaranteed a race shirt while supplies last. Late registration is available in a limited window with a higher fee. Packet pickup is scheduled at Connect Church on the two days before the race and a brief race morning pickup is available at Albemarle High School. Event operations use chip timing and local Albemarle EMT medical services will be on site. The event policy states no refunds or deferrals, no dogs on the course, and that strollers are permitted only in the final wave. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
