Charlottesville Turkey Trot 5k

The Charlottesville Turkey Trot 5k is a community running event held on Thanksgiving morning in Charlottesville, Virginia. The race starts and finishes at Albemarle High School and utilizes a neighborhood course. The route includes a mix of flat stretches and gentle rolling hills, with a total elevation gain of 133 feet.

Participants can choose between two primary event formats:

  • 5k (Live)
  • 5k (Virtual)

The live event features professional chip timing provided by Blue Ridge Timing. The virtual option allow participants to complete their distance at any location over a multi-day period. Registered participants receive an official race bib and a soft technical t-shirt, while supplies last.

The course is located near several local schools, and parking is available at Albemarle High School, Journey Middle School, and Greer Elementary. For those participating with families, strollers are permitted but must remain in the final starting wave. Pets are not allowed on the race course.

The event serves as a fundraiser for local food assistance organizations. Proceeds and support benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, which is located directly along the race route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
