Charlottesville Marathon
The Charlottesville Marathon is an annual road race held in Charlottesville. The 2026 edition takes place on April 11 and marks the event's 25th year. The program includes both a full marathon and a half marathon.
The course starts and finishes in downtown Charlottesville and runs along quiet roads and bike paths beside the Rivanna River and through scenic Charlottesville neighborhoods. Organizers describe the race as highlighting the area's natural scenery, historical background, architectural heritage, local music and nightlife, and nearby wine and craft beer businesses. Thousands of local runners use sections of these roads and paths on a daily basis.
The event is presented by Bad to the Bone Events and includes a photo gallery and race reviews. Coverage and mentions have appeared in running publications and general press. Registration for the 2026 races is open.
