Event Information
The Charlie Horse Trail Half-Marathon & Dirty Pony 5K takes place in Mohnton, Pennsylvania. The event benefits Berks County Special Olympics. The 29th running of the event is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.

Courses
The half-marathon is primarily a trail race that uses the Horse-Shoe Trail in Brecknock Township. It includes sections of road and single-track trail. The course starts on Westley Road in front of the Sleepy Hollow Athletic Club, heads west on the trail, includes a loop on country roads near the municipal office, and returns east to the start. The final section is on the "Plowville" part of the trail. The course is marked with neon ribbons and has volunteers at key points. There are three aid stations located at approximately 3.5 miles, 6.5 miles, and 10 miles into the race. There is a course cutoff at the 10-mile aid station at 3 hours.
The Dirty Pony 5K also starts at Sleepy Hollow Athletic Club. Its course runs the final 5K section of the half-marathon route, heading east through the Plowville trail section and looping back to the start.
Race Day
Packet pickup and day-of registration open in the morning. A post-race party includes pizza, snacks, and beverages for participants. Awards are presented afterward.
Registration and Details
Online preregistration closes on May 21, 2026. Day-of registration is available for both races. The half-marathon entry is limited to 300 participants. The entry fee for the half-marathon includes a t-shirt, finisher swag, and age group awards. Shirt availability for the half-marathon is not guaranteed for registrations after May 1, 2026. The Dirty Pony 5K entry includes finisher swag and awards. Participants under 16 years old should contact the race director before registering. No outside alcohol or dogs are permitted on the premises.
Race Series
The Charlie Horse Trail Half-Marathon is the first race in the Triple Trail Challenge 50.3 series. The Dirty Pony 5K is the first race in the separate Triple Trail Starter Pack series for runners new to trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
