Charlesworth Chase
The Charlesworth Chase is a fell running event held in Appletreewick, North Yorkshire. The course covers a distance of 5.2 miles with a total ascent of 1200 ft. Participation is limited to seniors only, with a minimum age requirement of 18 years.
The route begins outside the Craven Arms in Appletreewick. Runners proceed along the road, cross a field, and follow a track toward the river. The course follows the river to Howgill before ascending a forest road. Participants then cut through the trees to join a rough path leading to the fell. The race follows a direct route to Simons Seat, where runners must touch the trig point before returning to the start location.
An entry fee of £10 is required for participants. This fee covers the race and a drink. The event includes a specific requirement where runners receive a pint or half-pint of beer at the finish line, which must be consumed prior to the official end of the race for those involved.
