Charles River Marathon Invitational (CRMI) - Herter Park, Boston, MA
The Charles River Marathon Invitational is the 2nd annual edition of a marathon held on the Charles River course in Boston on September 13, 2026. The event uses a USATF-certified course (certificate MA23005JK) comprised of ten laps of a 2.6 mile paved loop around the river, starting and finishing at Herter Park. The course is primarily flat with a short, roughly 50-foot climb and a sharp left to cross the Eliot Bridge.
CRMI is aimed at runners who have completed a certified full marathon since January 1, 2024 within 20 minutes of their Boston Marathon qualifying time; a limited number of time-waived entries are available for fundraiser runners who commit to raising at least $1,000. The small field is capped at 200 entrants. Entry fees vary by registration period; fundraiser entrants pay a reduced registration fee but must meet fundraising minimums or forfeit entry. Race entry includes a finisher’s medal, an embroidered hat, and a CRM shirt. Entry fees are non-refundable.
On-course support includes portable toilets at several locations, a self-serve bring-your-own-bottle station with marked drop zones, three BODYARMOR hydration stations, and GU Energy products at designated stations. Pacers may be recruited for multiple target paces; pacers who meet standards receive a cash stipend and official pacer apparel. Awards are given to the top three overall women and men and to age-group winners. Time limits apply: 4 hours 30 minutes for runners under 60 and 5 hours for runners 60 and older.
Local logistics note a nearby hotel block across the street from the start/finish and public transit and parking options adjacent to Herter Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
