Charles River Half and Relay
The Charles River Half and Relay takes place at the DCR Charles River Reservation with the start and finish at the Marsh Post in Cambridge, MA. The course is a flat 2.6 mile loop on paved paths along the Charles River; half marathon participants complete five laps for a total of 13.1 miles. The event uses the same course as the Boston 5K Summer Series and the Charles River Marathon.
Distances and formats:
- Half Marathon: five laps of a 2.6 mile loop; capped at 200 runners.
- Half Marathon Team Relay: teams of 2 to 5 runners complete five laps total; capped at 20 teams.
Race entry benefits differ by event. Half marathon entries include a finisher's medal, a hat, and post race beers from Mighty Squirrel. Relay entries include a hat for each team member and post race beers. Pricing is tiered by registration date with an at event price if not sold out.
On-course facilities include two BODYARMOR hydration stations, a self serve bring your own bottle station with drop zones and volunteer return of bottles, and portable toilets near the start/finish and at other points along the path though availability is not guaranteed. Dogs and strollers are not allowed. Overall awards and age group awards are offered by gender and age categories; overall awards use gun time and age group awards use chip net time. The half marathon has a three hour time limit.
The event location is American Legion Marsh Post 442 at 5 Greenough Blvd, Cambridge. Public transit and several free parking options are listed nearby.
