Event Overview
The Chargers 5K is an annual athletic event held at the Columbia State Williamson Campus in Franklin. The event supports students at Columbia State by raising funds to assist them in completing their degrees or certificates. The racecourse begins and ends on the campus, taking participants past campus sights and along tree-lined streets.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Walk
- Kids Trot
All participants who complete the 5K receive a medal, and awards are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers. Those participating in the 5K are also permitted to join the 1 Mile Walk at no additional cost. Walkers receive a completion ribbon.
Youth Activities
The event includes the Chargers Trot, which is a free activity designed for children up to age 10. All children who participate in the trot receive a ribbon. Additionally, a dedicated kids' zone is available on-site, featuring activities such as games, fun challenges, and balloon art. Parents or caregivers are required to stay with their children throughout these activities.
Participant Information
A pre-race packet pick-up is held in the lobby of the Arts and Technology Building two days prior to the event. The event maintains a strict no-pet policy. Registration includes an event T-shirt for those who sign up by the early or regular deadlines, though availability is limited for later registrations.
