16th Annual Character Chase 5K
The event is the 16th Annual Character Chase 5K in Hamburg, New York on May 9, 2026. The USATF certified course starts and finishes at SS Peter & Paul Social Center/Gym, 68 East Main Street, and runs through tree-lined streets of the Village of Hamburg. A post-race celebration will be held at the same venue and will feature live music. Free parking is available within walking distance of the start/finish area.
Registration, awards and services
Online registration remains open until race day and race day registration and packet pickup will be available at SS Peter & Paul Social Center/Gym on race morning. An early packet pickup option is offered on Friday, May 8 from 5:00–7:00 PM at the same location. Registration fees are $25 for the 5K and $30 on race day. A Team Challenge (four participants) is $80 and $100 on race day. Participants who register by April 24, 2026 are guaranteed a race shirt in their requested size; organizers plan to order 250 shirts.
Trophies will be awarded to the first overall male and female 5K finishers and to the fastest team of four based on the average of all four finish times. Custom awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in age groups covering 9 and under through 80 and older. Professional RFID timing and real-time results are provided by Race Management Solutions, with results, photos, and downloadable finisher certificates available after the race. No refunds will be issued; organizers may postpone, reschedule, or offer a virtual alternative if necessary. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
