Event overview
The 16th Annual Character Chase 5K takes place on May 9, 2026 in Hamburg, New York. The race starts and finishes at SS Peter & Paul Social Center/Gym, 68 East Main Street. The course is USATF certified and follows tree-lined streets through the Village of Hamburg. A post-race celebration at the gym will include live music (TBD). There is free parking within walking distance of the start and finish area.
Registration, logistics and awards
Online registration remains open up to race day. Entry fees are $25, increasing to $30 on race day; a Team Challenge for four participants is $80, increasing to $100 on race day. Register by April 24, 2026 to guarantee an official dry-fit race shirt in the requested size; organizers plan to order 250 shirts and any extras will be distributed first-come, first-served. Packet pickup and race-day registration are available at the gym; an early packet pickup is offered Friday, May 8 from 5-7 PM. Paper applications (cash or check) are available on race morning.
Professional timing and finish-line services use Jaguar Electronic RFID timing provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated in real time and can be accessed via mobile app, kiosks, and race websites; finish-line photos and downloadable finisher certificates are available. Awards include trophies for overall male and female winners, the fastest team of four by average time, and custom age awards for the top three male and female finishers in the event age groups.
