Challenge Canberra - Canberra, Australia - 22 November 2026
Challenge Canberra is a triathlon event held in Canberra set among lakeside scenery, open roads and national landmarks. The event takes place in cool-season conditions and highlights calm waters, rolling bike terrain and a fast, spectator-friendly run through parkland.
The event includes multiple distance options:
- Middle distance: 2 km swim, 80 km bike, 18 km run
- Standard distance: 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
- Sprint distance: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Aqua bike: 2/1.5 km swim and 80/40 km bike

The swim is a two-lap, 2 km course in the deeper waters off Black Mountain Peninsula. The bike routes feature rolling terrain with views of city landmarks and sheltered sections. The run is a three-lap course following footpaths of Black Mountain Peninsula toward Scrivener Dam and is described as faster due to removal of a hill. Spectators can watch the swim from the foreshore, view athletes at Rond Terrace multiple times on the bike, and see repeated passes during the run.
Typical conditions show average air temperature around 19°C, water about 17°C, and wind near 9 KPH. Entries include a unique 2026 medal, a finishers t-shirt, and a swim cap. Side events include World Championship qualifying races across 100 km, Olympic and Sprint distances, plus a kids aquathlon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
