Redtail Ridge

Redtail Ridge is a trail race at Lake Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley, CA on February 20, 2027. The event offers multiple distances and a total capacity of 500 runners. Lake Chabot features eucalyptus forests, grassy meadows, lakeside paths, and hilltop vistas, and connects to additional trails in Anthony Chabot Regional Park. The lake is maintained as an emergency water supply and is open to fishers and boaters.

The courses are mostly moderately technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads, with some paved sections. Hills can be long; hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon placed about every 200 meters, with concentrated markings at turns; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails. Aid stations carry a variety of foods and beverages such as energy gels, chews, stroop-waffles, trail mix, pretzels, salty snacks, soda, water, and electrolyte drink mixes. Aid stations provide general first aid items but do not supply anti-inflammatory medicine. Runners are encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle; the event is cupless, so participants must bring their own bottle or reusable cup. Disposable timing chips are attached to the back of each bib and timing is handled with professional chip-timing systems. Drop bag service is not available.

Volunteer roles and race awards are provided; finishers receive a custom medal and 50K finishers receive a pint glass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
