Event overview
The Redtail Ridge / Chabot Trail Run is scheduled for February 2026 at Lake Chabot Regional Park in Castro Valley, California. Distances offered include:
- 50K
- 30K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The event has a total capacity of 500 runners across all distances. All races are chip timed using MyLaps and Race Director with disposable chips attached to the back of each bib. An 8.5 hour time limit applies to the 50K. Parking at Lake Chabot is included in the entry fee for participants who arrive before lots fill, with additional free parking along the road outside the park.
Course and race logistics
Course surfaces are mainly dirt trails and non-technical fire roads with some paved sections. Distance and elevation details by course:
- 50K - 31.4 miles, 3,800 ft elevation gain
- 30K - 18.9 miles, 2,300 ft elevation gain
- Half - 13.1 miles, 1,800 ft elevation gain
- 10K - 6.4 miles, 650 ft elevation gain
- 5K - 3.1 miles, 110 ft elevation gain
The event is cupless; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Aid stations provide energy gels, snacks, electrolyte drink mixes, water, and basic first aid supplies. Dogs are allowed in the park and may run the race if leashed and started at the back of the pack.
