Chiltern Wonderland 50 : Event details
Chiltern Wonderland 50 is a single-loop 50 mile (81 km) trail race on 19 September 2026, based at Goring Village Hall, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire RG8 9AG. The course includes 5,600 ft (1,700 m) of climb and is approximately 80% trail and 20% road. The overall time limit is 13 hours. Entry fee is £115, minimum age is 20, and the published number of starters is 250. Entries open 11 October 2025 and close 31 August 2026. Entrants must have completed at least a marathon-distance event within that event’s cut-off between 1 January 2021 and race day; unqualified entrants may be contacted to verify qualification plans.
Course, support and rules
The route starts and finishes in Goring-on-Thames and follows sections of the Thames Path, the Chiltern Way and the Ridgeway. Key points on the loop include Whitchurch, Mapledurham, Sonning Common, Bix, Stonor Deer Park, Turville (past Cobstone Windmill), Ibstone, Christmas Common (highest point about 800 ft), Watlington Hill, Swyncombe Farm, Nuffield, Grim’s Ditch and the Blue Tin Farm Shop aid station. The course is fully marked with ribbons and arrows and no navigation is required. There are five well stocked aid stations providing gels, electrolyte drinks, Tailwind, water, hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches and options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free needs; hot food and drink are available at the finish. Medical support includes a static finish team and roving medics. Pacers and crew are not permitted. Mandatory kit must be carried and a one-hour penalty may be applied for missing items.
