Event overview

Chiltern Wonderland 50 is a single-loop 50-mile (about 81 km) ultramarathon held on 19 September 2026. The race starts and finishes at Goring Village Hall, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG8 9AG. The course is listed as 80% trail and 20% road, with a total of 5600 ft (about 1700 m) of ascent and descent. The published time limit for finishing the course is 13 hours. Course and logistics

The route follows a single loop through the Chiltern Hills, passing villages and landmarks including Whitchurch, Mapledurham, Sonning Common, Bix, Stonor Deer Park, Turville (past Cobstone Windmill), Christmas Common (highest point on course at 800 ft) and sections of the Ridgeway. The course is fully marked and a route map plus downloadable GPX/KML files are provided.

There are five staffed aid stations with a range of food and drink options (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items, gels, electrolytes, water, soft drinks, fruit, sandwiches and snacks). Medical support is provided on course and at the finish. Pacers and crew are not permitted; supporters are allowed only at specified locations. Finishers receive a medal; prizes are awarded to top three male and female finishers and to vet category winners. Mandatory kit is required and includes a charged mobile phone, minimum 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, headtorch and backup light, a long sleeved layer and a cup or mug.
