Event details
Chiltern Wonderland 50 is scheduled for 19 September 2026 and is organised by Centurion Running. The event is based at Goring Village Hall, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG8 9AG. The race distance is 50 miles (81 km) on a single loop. Total climb is 5600 ft (1700 m). The course is approximately 80% trail and 20% road. The overall finish time limit is 13 hours. Entry fee is £115 (UKA discounted) or £117 for unattached runners. Entries open 11 October 2025 and close 31 August 2026. Minimum age is 20. Entrants must have completed at least a marathon within the cut-off time of that event between 1 January 2021 and the race day, though unqualified runners may be contacted to verify qualification plans.
Course and support
The route starts and finishes in the riverside village of Goring-on-Thames and follows a loop through the Chiltern Hills. It passes Whitchurch, Mapledurham, Sonning Common, Bix, Stonor Deer Park, Turville (past Cobstone Windmill), Ibstone, Christmas Common (highest point, 800 ft), Watlington Hill, the Ridgeway, Nuffield, Grim's Ditch and a final aid station at Blue Tin Farm Shop. The course is fully marked and a downloadable GPX file is available. Five manned aid stations provide food and drinks, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Medical cover is provided on course and at the finish. Finishers receive a finisher medal; prizes and trophies are awarded to top finishers in male, female and veteran categories. Pacers and crews are not permitted. Drop bags are only allowed at the finish. Mandatory kit is required and a one-hour time penalty applies for missing items.
