Chiltern Wonderland 50

The Chiltern Wonderland 50 is a 50 mile single loop through the Chiltern Hills, starting and finishing at Goring Village Hall in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. The route includes 5600 feet of ascent and 5600 feet of descent, and mixes approximately 80% trail with 20% road. The course is fully marked with Centurion ribbons and marker arrows so no navigation is required.

The route passes through riverside and Chiltern villages including Whitchurch, Mapledurham, Sonning Common, Bix, Stonor Deer Park, Turville and Christmas Common, and uses sections of the Thames Path, the Chiltern Way and the Ridgeway. The highest point on the course is at Christmas Common at about 800 feet. A downloadable GPX and KML file are provided for the route.

There are 5 well stocked aid stations with medical support on course and at the finish. The race has a 13 hour overall cut off and additional intermediate cut offs. Finishers receive a medal and prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers plus multiple veteran categories. Entries are limited and require a minimum qualification of having completed a marathon within that event's cut off time since 1 January 2021.

Mandatory equipment must be carried at all times and will be spot checked. Examples include a charged mobile phone, minimum one litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, primary and backup lights of at least 100 lumens, a dry long sleeved top and a cup. A time penalty applies for missing mandatory items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
