Celtic Calling: 5K Kilt Run and 2K Kilt Walk
The event is part of the 10th Celtic Calling Gathering and takes place at Spring Hill Cemetery Park and Arboretum in Charleston, WV. It offers two course options:
- 5K Kilt Run (timed)
- 2K Kilt Walk (not timed)
The 5K follows an undulating figure-of-eight through the 180-acre cemetery with over 300 ft of elevation gain, passing monuments, varied flora and fauna, and viewpoints over the Kanawha Valley. Both courses start and finish at the Administration Building. Bagpipe music is provided along the course; kilts and Celtic attire are optional.
Entry fees vary by date. Early rates apply until February 15 with higher fees after that date; online registration closes March 5. On-day registration accepts cash or check but availability of medals is not guaranteed. Parking is directed by signage and stewards at east and west gates and may be up to a half mile from the Administration Building.
All participants receive a medal commemorating the 10th Celtic Calling Gathering and are entered into a raffle. Awards include overall male and female winners, age-group awards from youth through 70 and over, best-dressed kilt awards, awards for dogs running or walking with owners, and a largest-group award that includes a tree planted in the group’s honor. Net proceeds support Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery Park & Arboretum. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
