Cedar Lake Triathlon Series #4
This event is the fourth of a six-race summer series held every other Thursday evening at Cedar Lake in Chester, CT. The program offers grassroots community racing with individual and relay formats, plus a shorter super sprint option.
Distances:
- Sprint: ~500 yard swim, 10 mile bike, 5k road run
- Super Sprint: ~200 yard swim, 5 mile bike, ~1 mile run
The individual and relay sprint includes an open-water lake swim, a road bike section, and a 3.1 mile run course that runs alongside the lake and approaches Cockaponset State Forest before a turnaround at a water station. The swim is an out-and-back course with buoys kept to the left. Transitions are inside a fenced area with room for roughly ten bikes per rack.
Wetsuits are encouraged when water temperature is below 80 degrees and are strongly encouraged for the first two races. Aqua jogging is not permitted. Younger racers can enter the super sprint but must be at least 13 years old. Families may race together; a parent or guardian who accompanies a child for the full race may race free with that child.
Preregistration is required; online registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on race day and there will be no onsite registration. Race day check-in opens at 5:00 p.m. and all registered racers must be checked in by 5:45 p.m. In inclement weather organizers may change the race to a duathlon, a 5K, or cancel the event.
Course rules include helmet use on the bike, staying right unless passing, no drafting, no earbuds, no crossing yellow lines, and remaining inside cones. Animals are prohibited in the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
