Catch Me if You Can!
Catch Me if You Can! is a Yellowstone Rim Runners winter race series held in Billings, Montana. The series stages multiple winter events at different local venues and uses an unusual start format that aligns predicted finishing times.
The series distances and events:
- The Chill 4K December at Swords Park
- The Flurry 5K January at High Sierra
- The Blizzard 8K February at Zimmerman
- The Thaw 10K April at Swords
Runners start individually based on predicted pace so that competitors are forecast to finish together. Faster runners begin later and attempt to catch those who started earlier, producing a head-to-head finish for many participants. After each race, hot beverages are provided.
The series awards points for each race; first place earns 25 points with points decreasing by one point down to 5 points. Participation, volunteering, or a first race also earn 5 points. Series standings determine overall winners and the top five overall series finishers receive cash prizes: $100 for first, $75 for second, $50 for third, $25 for fourth, and $15 for fifth.
The series is free for Yellowstone Rim Runners members. Membership can be obtained when registering for the series for a listed fee of $15 individual or $24 family. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
