Catamount Ultra - Stowe, VT
The Catamount Ultra is a trail race hosted at the Trapp Family Lodge trail system near Stowe, Vermont, at the foot of Mount Mansfield. The event offers two distances and loops the well-maintained lodge trails through highland pastures and hardwood forest with visible maple sugar tap lines.
- 25k loop on wide, hard-packed dirt trail.
- 50k two laps of the 25k loop.
Each 25k loop contains approximately 2,500 ft of elevation gain and 2,500 ft of loss, for near 5,000 ft total gain and loss on the 50k. The 50k has a 9 hour overall time limit. The course includes three aid stations located at about miles 4.6, 9.4, and at the start/finish; 25k runners access two stations while on course. Aid stations will offer standard ultra fuel and hydration. The race is cup-free; runners should carry their own hydration and any specific food needs. A designated area at the start/finish will hold drop bags for 50k runners. Volunteer first aid caregivers will be at the start/finish, but not necessarily at every aid station.
Field capacity is 600. Entry fees are listed for 50k and 25k with increases after April 30 and a day-of price; a $25 service fee applies to refunds requested by May 15, with no refunds after that date. Prizes for 1st–3rd overall male and female are planned; no cash prizes will be awarded and exact prizes are TBD. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
