About the race
Castle C’alf is a 12 km (7 mile) fell race organized by Calder Valley Fell Runners. The course climbs approximately 490 m and runs through the private Castle Carr estate, finishing in the latter part of Castle Carr Half. The event uses a flagged route starting from The Hare and Hounds pub in Chiserley (Old Town) near Hebden Bridge.
It is FRA-licensed under UKA rules and is a non-GPS race: navigation is not allowed for course aid, though GPS can record distance. Checkpoints and recce maps are provided. In 2025, it enters its fourth edition, with a competitive field capped at 150. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
