Castle C'Alf fell race
Castle C'Alf is a 12 km(7 mile) Yorkshire fell race that uses the final half of the full Castle Carr route. The course passes through the Castle Carr private estate and adjacent moorland, including Midgley Moor and Warley Moor, and includes about 490 m (1600 ft) of ascent and descent. The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is a non GPS event.
The event takes place on Sunday 4 October 2026 and is based at Wadsworth Community Centre, Old Town, near Hebden Bridge HX7 8RY. Minimum age to enter is 18 years. Entries are open from 2 September 2026 until 3 October 2026 and current entry fees are listed as FRA Member £7.00 and Non Member £9.00. Entries recorded so far are shown as 39 participants.
Competitors must carry specific safety and navigation kit. Required items include waterproof trousers with taped seams; a waterproof jacket with taped seams and an integrated hood; a hat or buff; gloves; a map suitable for navigation; a proper compass; a whistle; and emergency food. Competitors should present kit at registration for checking. Participants are asked not to enter the private estate before or after race day.
