Castle Calf (also shown as Castle C’alf) is a Calder Valley Fell Runners event scheduled for 12 October 2025. The race base and registration are at Wadsworth Community Centre, Billy Lane, Old Town, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8RY. The category is BM: 12 km (7 miles) with 490 m (1,600 ft) of ascent and descent. Minimum age is 18. Pre-entry fees are £7 for FRA members and £9 for non-members. Entry on the day fees are £8 for members and £10 for non-members, with a race limit of 150. Entries open 11 September 2025 and close 11 October 2025 at 17:00 (SiEntries).

Course, route and requirements

The route covers the final stages of the full Castle Carr race and is flagged through the private Castle Carr estate; entrants are asked not to enter the estate before race day. The course includes five checkpoints at mapped grid references and uses moorland and estate tracks. The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules and is run as a non-GPS race; GPS devices may be used to record a route but not to aid navigation, and use of GPS for navigation to safety requires declaring as non-competitive at the finish. FRA mandatory minimum kit is compulsory and will be checked before number allocation; required items include waterproof trousers and jacket with taped seams and an integrated hood, hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food.
