The East Coast "Chuffer" along the canal
The event is a series of trail races held on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal at Wyther Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3BT. The course is a flat out and back route on good trail surfaces, with feed and drink stations positioned approximately every three miles. The route is marshalled and signed, and finishers receive a bespoke medal and a selection of treats.
Bibs are issued on the day at registration. Registration and toilets are located next to the canal. Organisers aim to be cup free at feed stations, so participants are asked to use a reusable cup or bottle. Large over ear headphones are banned; bone conducting or single ear in ear pieces are permitted. Runners should be aware there may be unmarshalled road crossings and should notify the nearest marshal if they are injured or wish to retire.
The races are licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules. Transfers and deferrals can be self-served on the organiser website; deferrals are allowed up to seven days before the event. Travel notes list Headingley as the closest train station on the Northern service and advise that there is no parking at the start finish but plenty of local parking.
