The East Coast Chuffer
The East Coast Chuffer is a series of off-road races that start from Peasholm Park, N Bay Promenade, Scarborough. Races are licenced by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules and follow the old railway Cinder Track, combining coastal views and woodland sections.
Distances available include:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- 20 Mile
- Marathon
Route planning includes a 6.7 mile loop used for the half marathon (two laps) and the marathon (four laps). Water stations are positioned at approximately three mile intervals along the course. Maps are provided for each distance.
Race day arrangements include on the day registration where participants collect race bibs. Parking is available in council car parks around Peasholm Park and on the seafront at Scarborough; council charges may apply. Every finisher receives the event medal known as the Grim Bling.
Previous participant feedback notes clear signing and friendly marshals, a good selection of finish refreshments, and an enjoyable coastal route. Some participants reported that measured distances were shorter than expected on certain routes. Spaces are limited for this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
