Event overview

The Carlisle Spring Duathlon takes place at Carlisle Lake District Airport, Terminal, Aviation Way, Carlisle CA6 4NW on 8 March 2026. The event is held twice a year, in spring (March) and autumn (October), and is rated Excellent by British Triathlon (BTF). The race is a sprint-distance duathlon with the following legs:

  • 5k run
  • 19.3k bike
  • 2.5k run

The minimum age for the sprint distance is 15 years old on 31 December 2026. The event is organised by Carlisle Tri Club.

Course, entry and facilities

Both run legs take place on the airport and are traffic free. The bike leg follows quiet country roads. Free parking is available at the venue. The event uses chip timing and awards prizes to the first three male and first three female finishers plus 10-year age group prizes. A bespoke finisher’s medal is provided. Non-BTF affiliated athletes must purchase a Race Pass from BTF to compete.

Entry fees start from £35.00 per individual (increasing later) and relay team fees start from £40.00 (increasing later). Course maps and further event information are provided by the organiser.
