Trail Running at Pedernales Falls
Capt'n Karl's Trail Series - Pedernales Falls is a night-time trail running event held in Johnson City, Texas. It serves as the opening race for the 2026 Capt'n Karl's Night Trail Run Series. The event takes place at Pedernales Falls State Park and offers a variety of distances held after sunset.
Participants can choose from several race categories:
- 60K trail race
- 30K trail race
- 20K trail race
- 10K trail race or 10K Ruck
- 5K Sunset trail race
- 1-Mile Youth trail run for participants aged 12 and under
The youth race covers approximately one mile, and parents are permitted to run alongside their children. For the 1-Mile event, participants receive a finisher's medal, and t-shirts are available as an optional purchase during registration. For all adult distances, a registration deadline in mid-May determines the inclusion of an event shirt with the race swag. Registration for most distances opens in November of the preceding year.
