Capstone Cares 5K
The Capstone Cares 5K is a certified running event taking place in Huntsville, Alabama. The course is located within Cummings Research Park and is designed to be easy to navigate. Both the start and finish lines are situated at the headquarters of Capstone Research Corporation on Odyssey Drive Northwest.
Participants have the choice between two formats:
- 5 km in-person running race
- 5 km virtual race
The event serves as a benefit for WarriorWOD, a national nonprofit organization. This organization focuses on recovery programs for Veterans through exercise, nutrition, and mentorship to address both physical and invisible wounds. As part of the event's tribute to veterans, participants have the option to wear photos from 22 Too Many, honoring Veteran Heroes lost to suicide.
The finish line area features a community hub for both runners and spectators. The post-race environment includes food trucks and organized activities. The race is organized by a defense contractor that provides research and development services to the U.S. Department of War and industry partners.
