Cape Fear Habitat Turkey Trot
Cape Fear Habitat Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at Live Oak Bank Pavilion, 10 Cowan Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. The event moved from Wrightsville Beach to downtown Wilmington because of construction.
Distances offered include:
- 1 Mile Run/Walk, not timed
- 5K Run/Walk, timed
Both distances allow running or walking. Registration is handled online, at packet pickup, or on race morning via a QR code provided by the organizer. The published registration fee is $35. Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis in any legal street spot or parking lot; street parking is free in downtown Wilmington on Thanksgiving.
The event features a racer costume contest and a pet costume contest. Pets are welcome in the park area at the start and finish but are not allowed to participate in the race; prizes are awarded for first through third place in each costume category.
This Turkey Trot is a fundraiser for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity. Funds raised support building homes and communities in New Hanover, Pender, and Duplin Counties; organizers report that last year participants raised enough to build a home for a neighbor.
