Parkway Subaru Battleship Half Marathon & GFL 10K/5K
The Battleship Half Marathon is a historic road running event established in 1998, making it one of the oldest half marathons in the Southern United States. The event takes place in the downtown historic district of Wilmington, North Carolina, with the start and finish lines located at Water Street Park.
Participants can choose from a variety of race distances and formats:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- 5K
- Virtual Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K
- Duo Team (Rider)
The course leads runners through the streets of historic Wilmington. All registered participants receive an event shirt and a finisher medal. Medal sizes vary by distance, with a 4-inch medal for the half marathon, a 3-inch medal for the 10K, and a 2-inch medal for the 5K.
A notable feature of this event is the connection to the Battleship North Carolina. All race participants receive free entry to visit the battleship by presenting their race bib on designated dates. The ship serves as a memorial to the crew who served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. At the finish line, participants can attend a party featuring snacks, water, and beer for those of legal age.
Virtual options are available for those who prefer to complete their chosen distance at any location. Virtual runners receive their race shirts and finisher medals by mail following the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
