Event Details

The Canon Sheehan Loop is a mountain running event in Glenanaar Forest, County Cork. It takes place on Sunday, 30th August 2026.

Route and Distances

The main race is 10.5 km with 265 m of climb. There is also a short course option of 5 km. The event difficulty is rated as moderate (6). The route is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring Level B mandatory kit to the race. This includes:

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Hat or buff
  • Gloves
  • Whistle
  • Charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored
  • Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent

Runners must also have a means to carry all kit. The specific items to be carried during the race will be finalized on the day based on conditions and announced at registration. Random kit checks may be performed, and failure to have required items can lead to denied entry or disqualification.

Participation and Entry

The event is part of the Coillte Summer/Autumn Trail League in Munster. Entry costs €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The entry limit is 250 participants.
