2026 Candy Cane 5k & 10k
The event takes place at Belle Haven Park in Alexandria, Virginia, on paved paths along the Potomac and the Mount Vernon Trail. The route offers river vistas and minimal elevation change.

The 5k is an out-and-back route on the Mount Vernon Trail. The 10k follows the same course and continues another 1.55 miles before turning for a second out-and-back. Walkers and strollers are welcome. Water stations are provided at approximately mile markers 0.9 and 2.5 for the 5k, and at approximately 0.9, 2.5, 4.0, and 5.55 for the 10k; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restroom facilities are on site.
The event is chip timed. Registered finishers receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for runners who register before December 9. Packet pickup is available at the event and there is no on-site race registration.
Points from this race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Fall Series. The Back of the Pack is a series category rather than a cut-off time and is intended to group runners of similar pace for series scoring.
