Cancer Sucks 5K Walk/Run
The Cancer Sucks 5K is an athletic event held at Etowah River Park in Canton, Georgia. Participants cover a course located entirely on the greenway that follows the Etowah River. The event serves as a fundraiser for The Shelley Foundation, an organization that provides support and resources to individuals and families dealing with the hardships of cancer.
The event offers two main categories for entry:
- 5K Runner
- 5K Walker
Participants in the running category utilize a timing chip attached to their race bib, allowing them to view their official results online after the event. Those registered in the walking category receive a race bib but their participation is not timed. Individuals who plan to walk but wish to receive a recorded time can choose to register under the runner category.
The course starts and finishes within the park grounds. Registered participants receive a race t-shirt if they complete their registration before the designated early September deadline. The Shelley Foundation manages the event as part of its mission to foster community and hope for those affected by cancer diagnoses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
