The Canalathon-Ultra Running Festival takes place on 22 March 2026 at Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club, Walton Street, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. The event offers the following race distances:
- 100 km
- 50 km
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
Minimum entry age is 16. Entry fees listed for the event include £90 for the 100 km, £120 for a 4-person 100 km relay team, £60 for the 50 km, £45 for the Half Marathon and £25 for the 10 km. Entries open 2 April 2025 and close 15 March 2026.
Course and event facilities
The 100 km is an out-and-back course from Sowerby Bridge along canal towpaths with minimal elevation. The 50 km runs from Ancoats to Sowerby Bridge along the full length of the Rochdale Canal. The Half Marathon starts near The Summit, Todmorden, and finishes at Sowerby Bridge. Courses are mainly on hard, dry surfaces; trail running shoes are recommended.
Race headquarters and all finishes are at Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club. The event provides chip timing, marshalled and signed courses, aid stations with savoury and sweet options plus drinks (participants are asked to bring their own cup or bottle), transport options for some starts, free parking, portaloos, changing and showers, first aid and sweepers, finish medals and goody bags, take-away hot food, complimentary drinks at the venue, photographs and awards for winners.
