Callaway Gardens Olympic Triathlon and Duathlon
This event is staged at Robin Lake Beach within Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. It offers both an Olympic-distance triathlon and a duathlon that use the resort roads and trails around Robin Lake.
The swim for the triathlon is a horseshoe-shaped 1000 meter loop in Robin Lake. The water is deep for the full swim but remains within about 20 yards of shoreline during the first half. Lifeguards and watercraft will be positioned along the course.
The bike course is an 18 mile, two-loop out-and-back using Scenic Drive, Discovery Parkway and Mountain Creek Drive on resort roads. The course is open to the public with signage and volunteers at key intersections. Brickyard Bike Co provides technical support on course; athletes are expected to handle basic repairs themselves.
The run is a 5 mile route that includes Robin Lake Circle and the paved bike trail. There will be two aid stations supplying water and nutrition options such as Cerasport, cola, pickle juice, chips and limited gels.
Additional details: packet pick up is located at the Circus Tent adjacent to Robin Lake; the transition area is in the Robin Lake parking lot; the event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon so participants must hold a USAT annual membership or procure a one-day membership and sign a waiver. Awards are given to top overall and top age-group finishers; relays are also scored. Parking is in the Robin Lake Beach parking area. Refunds are not offered; deferrals may be considered with documentation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
