Call My Name 5K
The Call My Name 5K takes place on February 22, 2026, in Clemson, South Carolina. The route tours the Clemson University campus and pays tribute to predominantly Black convicted laborers, boys and men ages 14 to 67, who were leased from the state penitentiary and helped construct campus buildings and infrastructure between 1890 and 1914. Noted campus works include Sikes Hall, Tillman Hall/Old Main, Trustee House, and Hardin Hall, as well as roads, sidewalks, and a dike.
Call My Name is a research project that documents and shares stories of Black men, women, and children in Clemson University history whose lives and experiences have been largely overlooked in the university’s public history. The event is described as the fourth annual running of the 5K and will tour campus while honoring those histories.
