Event overview
The Call My Name 5K is the 4th annual event held on February 22, 2026. The race honors predominantly Black convicted laborers, boys and men ages 14 to 67, who were leased from the state penitentiary to build Clemson College between 1890 and 1914. Those laborers contributed to red brick campus buildings, cleared land, and constructed roads, sidewalks, and a dike. The event tours the Clemson University campus and pays tribute to these stories. Call My Name is a research project that documents and shares histories of Black men, women, and children connected to Clemson University.
